The Nutrition Course Union Social Event was another huge success this year! The event, which is hosted by the School of Nutrition, Ryerson’s Tri-Mentoring and the Nutrition Course Union, is organized with the goal of welcoming all 2016/17 Mentors and Mentees and showcasing various campus groups.
The groups in attendance included CDAR (Canadian Diabetes Association Ryerson chapter), the Careers Centre, RISA (Ryerson Interprofessional Student Association), RHEA (Ryerson Home Economics Association), and CAFP (Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals).
The peer-mentoring program is in place to match first year students with senior students who will provide guidance and assist with the cultural transition to university life. With this in mind, the Social is held to start facilitating Mentor and Mentee relationships.
The event combined a presentation for Alyssa a Mentoring Facilitator, icebreaker socials, and other fun activities. The icebreakers, led by Alexis from NCU kicked started the Mentor and Mentee relationships! Students quickly learned new fun facts about each other through the Newly Wed Game, which led to the entire audience being entertained!
Finally, once all the photos were taken, connections were made and the variety of pizza, salad and beverages were consumed; the event came to an end.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made the day a success!
